- CBI files chargesheet against four accused

Lucknow dated 21st December 2020 Monday

A BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh claimed that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did not trust his own state police.

The remarks came at a time when the CBI, which is probing the Hathras scandal, had filed a chargesheet against four youths for gangrape and murder of a Dalit girl. According to the chargesheet, a 20-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped by four youths on September 14 while she was cutting grass in a field. The girl died at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital during treatment.

On September 30, the police conducted the funeral of the girl in a hurry at midnight. Like the Nirbhaya scandal, there was a huge uproar at the national level over this case. Police claimed that the funeral was conducted at the request of the girl's family. The girl's family claimed that the police had kept us away from the funeral and had conducted the funeral in the middle of the night.
