Karnal / Punjab, Ta. Thursday, December 17, 2020

The funeral of Sant Baba Ram Singh, who committed suicide in support of the ongoing agitation against agricultural laws on the Delhi-Haryana border (Indus border), will be held on Friday. Earlier, people were arriving at Singada in Karnal to pay their last respects. On Thursday morning, Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal also reached Baba Ram Singh's Gurudwara.

The postmortem of Sant Baba Ram Singh has already been done. Meanwhile, people involved in the peasant movement have also started arriving. Gurunam Singh, who is holding a picket on the Indus border and holding discussions with the government, reached Karnal Garudwara on Thursday.

Gurunam Singh said that his meeting with Baba took place a day ago at the dharna site. He said in the conversation that he was very sad to see the farmers sitting like this. This is the butcher government. Now even God is giving the message. Tomorrow Babaji has made a sacrifice.

It may be recalled that Sant Baba Ram Singh shot himself on December 16 near Kundli near the Indus border at the Singda Gurudwara in Karnal. He got into his car and shot himself with a pistol. Sant Baba Ram Singh, 65, donated Rs 5 lakh for farmers' facilities at the picket site. He was a saint of Gurudwara Sahib Nanaksar.

Sant Ram Singh wrote a suicide note before shooting himself. In which he wrote that the pain of the peasants could not be seen. Sant Ram Singh further wrote in his suicide note, "Tolerating atrocities is also a sin, to see is also a sin and to endure it is also a sin. I want to tell the farmer brothers that I cannot see this situation."
