Peasant movement reaches US Parliament, US senators write letter to Mike Pompeo

- 'Talk to India's Foreign Minister'

Washington Friday, December 25, 2020

The talk of a peasant movement in the Indian capital, New Delhi, which has been going on for almost a month, reached as far as the US Parliament. Several U.S. senators have written letters to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in this regard.

Among the senators who wrote letters to Pompeo was Pramila Jaipal, a native of India. Earlier, the Government of India had clearly stated that this was our internal matter. There is no need to interfere.

The US senators wrote a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urging him to speak to the Indian foreign minister on the issue. Farmers have been agitating for a long time.

Informed sources, meanwhile, said the government was not ready to withdraw the law at any cost. Once the law is withdrawn then the precedent will be set. Doshi Murray is not afraid of it but Jamada is afraid of being burned at home. With one law withdrawn today, such stubbornness for another law may be served tomorrow.
