In Jharkhand's Khunti district, a laborer dug a twenty-five feet deep well by sweating himself to permanently alleviate his wife's difficulty in fetching water.

The woman, Emon Pahan, used to wander two to three kilometers a day for drinking water. Thus, her husband did not mind her wandering. But one day his wife fell ill and there was a shortage of drinking water in the house.

The man decided to get rid of his wife's problem forever. Nature also helped him. One day he went to a mountain in search of firewood. There he saw water dripping from the mountain wall. He immediately thought that if he dug a well here, he would get enough water.

One day this laborer named Chada Pahan started digging a well by sweating alone. He continued digging for a year. After digging twenty-five feet deep, he saw water. That's why this man didn't stop. He connected a pipeline to the well and brought the water to his house. Today, fifty houses in the village have enough water. The well is only 500 meters away from Chada's house and as it is a hilly area, it does not require a water pumping motor. The water comes down automatically and is available to people for many months through pipes.

Earlier, such labor was done by Dasharath Manjhi, a laborer from Bihar. He dug a mountain and prepared a road. It also led to a film called The Mountain Man and was noticed by the international media.
