Great war looms: Army begins preparations for 'two-front war' against China-Pakistan

New Delhi, Sunday 13 December 2020

Amid ongoing tensions on the border with China, India has taken another important step by increasing stockpiling of security forces, allowing security forces to stockpile weapons and ammunition for a 15-day fierce battle, given the recent conflict with China in eastern Ladakh. The army can spend up to Rs 50,000 crore on arms and ammunition. This also includes domestic and foreign purchases.

Increasing the stockpile of arms and ammunition from the previous 10 days to 15 days is a very important signal and it is believed that the security forces are being prepared for a possible Sino-Pakistani 'two-front war'. A government source told ANI that "many weapons and ammunition are being purchased as part of the approval to reserve for 15 days of fierce fighting against the enemy." Now there will be stocking for the fierce battle of 15 days, while the first 10 days were preparation.

It is reported that the increase in the stock of the army has been approved soon. According to the approval given many years ago, it was said that the forces were to increase the stock for a 40-day fierce battle, but due to stockpiling of weapons and ammunition and a change in the form of the battles, it was reduced to 10 days.

After the Uri attack, it was realized that the stockpile of weapons was low. The Defense Ministry, headed by the then Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, increased the financial powers of the Vice Presidents of the Army, Navy and Air Force from Rs 100 crore to Rs 500 crore. The three wings of the army were given Rs. He was also given the power to make emergency purchases of Rs 300 crore worth of equipment, which could help him in times of war.

The military is procuring various accessories, weapons, missiles and systems to effectively deal with the enemy. Sources said that a large number of missiles and ammunition have been procured for tanks and artillery. Significantly, tensions between India and China have been simmering in the Ladakh sector for months. There have also been violent clashes between the two armies in June. Even after several rounds of negotiations, there seems to be no way out.
