17 gangraped in husband's presence, shocking incident in Dumka, Jharkhand

Disaster struck a family returning home after seeing a fair in Dumka, Jharkhand. In the presence of her husband, not one or two, but seventeen people gangraped a woman.

Santhal Parganas Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudarshan Prasad Mandal told media that the woman, a mother of five, was returning home after seeing a fair on Tuesday night. She also had a husband. The accused were being investigated by the police. The woman gave the identity of one of the accused to the police.

The victim was sent for a medical examination. One of the accused identified by the woman is a resident of the same village. The incident took place in Mufassil area of ​​Dumka district. The police investigation was ongoing, Mandal added.

The couple was returning home when they were stopped by a drunken mob. The husband was grabbed by five youths and the woman was taken to a nearby bush where one by one seventeen men raped the woman. The woman was screaming but no one came to her aid.

Police said a fair is held near the couple's village every Tuesday. There these people went shopping. It was a little late to return at night.
