Ten non-contested candidates for Rajya Sabha were elected from Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Ta. Monday, November 2, 2020

In today's election for the ten vacant seats in the Rajya Sabha in Uttar Pradesh, all the candidates were elected unopposed which was a new record. Today was the last date to withdraw the subscription,

All the candidates were declared non-contestants today. This time, the BSP had won a seat with the BJP, which indicates that it would not be a surprise if Mayawati sits on the BJP's bench in the coming days.

The BJP fielded eight candidates, including Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri, Arun Singh, former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar's son Neeraj Shekhar, while the SP won one and the BSP one, although the BSP does not have enough MLAs to win in the Rajya Sabha. The arrangement was won by Kariramji Gautam. So the Samajwadi Party won by keeping Gopal Yadav standing.

The ten-member term ends on November 25, with three MPs from the BJP, four from the SP, two from the BSP and one from the Congress. In this way, the BJP could have elected nine members on its own, but by arranging with the BSP, it had shocked everyone. At the same time, BJP has become the party with the largest number of seats in the Rajya Sabha. So in this direction the seats of the Congress were drastically reduced.

The BJP now has 92 seats in the Rajya Sabha and the Congress has 38. If we talk about NDA, it has 112 members, although they are far from majority. The President nominates members to 12 of the total 245 seats in the Rajya Sabha.
