Punjab also took a big decision with the CBI, entry will not be possible without the approval of the state government

- After West Bengal, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Tripura and Rajasthan, approval has to be sought in Punjab.

Chandigarh, Ta. 10 November 2020, Tuesday

The Punjab government on Monday took a major decision regarding the CBI, according to which the CBI will now have to seek the approval of the state government before investigating any new case in Punjab.

The Amarinder government of the state on Monday withdrew the consent given to the CBI for the use of jurisdiction and powers in the state with an order. However, the CBI will be able to investigate all the cases before withdrawing the general consent.

It is important to note that while questions are being raised about the functioning and scope of work of the CBI, in West Bengal, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Tripura and Rajasthan too, the CBI needs the permission of the state governments to investigate cases. The entry of CBI in these states has been stopped.

Recently, the governments of Jharkhand and Maharashtra also withdrew the authority to investigate without permission from the CBI. It was announced on October 22 in Maharashtra.
