Only leading Congress leaders want to end the party: Mallikarjun Khadge

New Delhi, Thursday 19 November 2020

There is constant tension in the top leadership of the Congress these days. When Congress leader Kapil Sibal advised the party to introspect after the Bihar election results, Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said he should leave the party. Now Mallikarjun Khadge has slapped his own colleagues (Congress leaders) on Thursday. Mallikarjun Khadge blamed the Congress leaders for weakening the party and also questioned the credibility of the party leader.

On the occasion of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's birthday, Khadge said, "I am saddened by the statements made by some prominent leaders about the party (Congress) and our leaders." He said, "On the one hand, there is the challenge of BJP-RSS and on the other hand, there is an internal quarrel of our party. As long as we are weakened by our own people, we cannot move forward. If our ideology weakens, we will perish.

Gehlot also criticized Sibal

On the advice of 'introspection', Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has criticized Sibal in a series of tweets. Trusting in the leadership, he has been advised not to discuss the internal issues of the party in public. Referring to past examples, Gehlot tweeted that Congress has emerged stronger than ever whenever there is a crisis. In the same vein, he also admitted in a way that the party was going through a time of crisis.

'... then Kapil Sibal leaves the party'

On the other hand, West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that Sibal could have raised the issue within the party instead of publicly humiliating the party. He is a leading leader and has access to the top leaders of the party. "Those who are not happy with the functioning of the party and if they feel that the Congress is not the right place for them, they can form their new party," Chaudhary said. Or you can join any party of your choice.
