Nitish Kumar was not ready to become CM again, BJP leaders barely persuaded

Patna, Ta. 12 November 2020, Thursday

Even though the NDA won 125 seats after the Bihar elections, Nitish Kumar is saddened by the results.

The candidates fielded by Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party have eroded the votes of Nitish Kumar's own party JDU and the JDU's performance in the NDA has been even worse than that of its ally BJP. For the first time since 2005, the JDU has won so few seats.

Sources said that Nitish Kumar was unwilling to remain as CM due to shortage of seats. However, BJP leaders have persuaded him to continue as CM. BJP had said even before the elections that no matter how many seats the JDU wins, it will continue as CM. Nitish Kumar will remain. After that Sushil Modi has also said the same thing.

Sources say that Nitish Kumar's displeasure is against the fact that his victory in 25 to 30 seats has turned into a defeat because of Chirag Paswan's party. A BJP leader says that we have persuaded the disgruntled Nitish Kumar.

There is also speculation that the BJP has assured Nitish Kumar that it will be able to run the government independently as before. PM Modi has also said that Nitish Kumar will be the CM.

In the NDA, the BJP has 74 seats, the JDU 43 and the VIP party as well as Jitinram Manjhi's party has 4-4 seats.
