Even before the West Bengal elections, Owaisi suffered a major setback, with the big leader leaving the party

Calcutta, Ta. 24 November 2020, Tuesday

Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM, which has won five seats in Bihar, has suffered a major setback ahead of elections in West Bengal.

Anwar Pasha, AIMIM's top West Bengal leader, has parted ways with Owaisi and joined Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress party.

Hundreds of other activists have also joined the TMC along with Pasha, which may have come as a relief to Mamata Banerjee.

However, since Anwar Pasha has joined the TMC, it will be challenging for Owaisi to contest the elections as well, as AIMIM was totally dependent on Anwar Pasha. But this will not happen in Bengal. Anwar said that Owaisi should not come to Bengal, he will not get any benefit here. Even after that if he comes here we are ready to stop him.

However, an AIMIM spokesperson said that Anwar Pasha is not a big leader who can decide victory or defeat in the elections. There are many other leaders like him who are strengthening the party.
