Bilateral issues like Kashmir should not be discussed in SCO, Russia supports India against Pakistan

-Pakistan once again started talking about Kashmir

New Delhi Dated 13th November 2020 Friday

Russia once again proved its friendship with India. Russia has backed India's stance that bilateral issues like Kashmir should not be raised in the Shanghai Cooperative Organization (SCO).

Ever since the Indian government repealed Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir, in August last year, Pakistan has been teasing Kashmir. India was of the view that such a bilateral issue should not be taken up in the SCO. The video conference was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself from Pakistan and set the tone for Kashmir.

Russia backed India's stance in clear terms, saying the SCO is an international forum. Bilateral issues should not come up in the conference. On Tuesday, November 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that bilateral issues should not be raised unnecessarily at the SCO meeting. Apparently the reference was to Pakistan's attitude. Pakistan had made nefarious attempts to mediate the Kashmir issue at the SCO meeting.
