Srinagar: BJP surnames at Lalchok

- On Sunday, the BJP staged demonstrations outside the PDP office

Srinagar, Ta. Monday 26 October 2020

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's statement that I will not fly any flag other than the flag of Jammu and Kashmir was slammed and BJP workers on Monday morning staged anti-Mehbooba demonstrations and tried to hoist tricolors in Srinagar's Lalchok. However, the police immediately arrested the men.

Today, the BJP announced a Triranga Yatra in Triranga Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier on Sunday, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad workers staged a protest in front of the PDP office. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad is a part of BJP. These people chanted slogans outside the PDP office and chanted slogans from Mehbooba Mufti Murdabad.

Mehbooba Mufti has been in custody since August 4 last year. He was recently released following a petition in the Supreme Court on the issue of his detention. Political activity then increased in the Kashmir Valley region. In a meeting, former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah claimed that with the help of China, we would bring back the implementation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mehbooba then shouted that I am not going to hoist the Indian national flag. I will just fly the flag of Jammu and Kashmir. There was an uproar and even the Congress expressed its opposition to his statement. It may be recalled here that in Jammu and Kashmir, many parties, including the PDP and the National Conference, had declared to fight for the repeal of Article 370 at any cost.
