Seventh round of border talks with China today, attended by foreign ministry officials from both countries

- Negotiations on one side, tanks on the other side

New Delhi dated 12 October 2020 Monday

Tensions between China and India have been simmering on the Ladakh border for the past few months. After China deployed its army on the border, India also had to deploy its own army.

Now, after a long time, the two countries will sit together at the negotiating table today, with officials from both countries' foreign ministries participating in the talks. The two countries will begin the seventh phase of talks at Chushul in the Eastern Region at 12 noon on Monday.

India has already made it clear that China will withdraw its troops from here first and then the talks will move forward.

In June, the Chinese military tried to oust him. The Indian army was then chased away by the Chinese army. This has angered China's ruling party, and provocations by the ruling party have led the Global Times, such as China's official spokesman, to publish threatening reports. However, India remained steadfast in its stance. Indian troops chased Chinese troops more than once.

Today's talks will be led by Lieutenant General Harinder Singh of the Indian Army. He will be joined by Naveen Srivastava, Joint Secretary, East Asia Department, External Affairs Department.

Lieutenant General PGK Menon will now be in charge of the negotiations.
