- The CAG reported that the soldiers did not have adequate facilities

The Parliament's Public Accounts Committee was allowed to visit Leh by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

It may be recalled that in January-February this year, the CAG had submitted a report that the Indian Army, which had been protecting the borders for months amid adverse weather conditions, did not have adequate warm clothing and other necessities. This has been drawing the attention of the government since 2016.

After the report was released, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, a Congress MP and chairman of the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking permission to visit the border areas. Now that the Speaker has granted permission, the Public Accounts Committee will visit the Leh area on October 28-29 and hold face-to-face talks with the troops.

During the two-day visit to Leh, PAC members will also visit the DRDO. The PAC members will meet the officers and men of the Northern Command face to face to assess their needs and study the current situation. The killer winter is about to begin. At such a time, PAC members clearly believe that there is a danger if the military personnel do not get the necessary supplies. Earlier this month, PAC chairman Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking permission to visit Leh-Ladakh.
