Mike Pompeo arrives in New Delhi, China to look at India-US 2 + 2 meeting

An important meeting between India and the US is going to take place between the ongoing tensions on the border with China and the US presidential election. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Asper arrived in New Delhi on Monday. Here Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will attend a 2 + 2 meeting with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The 2 + 2 meeting between India and the US will start on Tuesday but earlier on Monday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will hold a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of Defense Mark Asper. The meeting will be held at Hyderabad House. After which External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will meet Mike Pompeo at 7 p.m. These meetings will be followed by an evening dinner.

China is eyeing the meeting between the two countries. The Chinese media has recently stated that the US-India relationship cannot be the same as that between the US and France. China's Global Times wrote that the US minister was traveling to several countries simultaneously. This meeting will not have a significant impact on the fact that the US treats India as any other country.

Important conversations will begin on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the US Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense will tour the War Memorial in New Delhi and pay tribute. After which a 2 + 2 meeting will start at Hyderabad House. A 2 + 2 meeting is a meeting of important ministries between the two countries, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. Which started some time ago between America and India.

The meeting could seal the Basic Exchange and Corporation Agreement. After which the US will share some important information with India. This includes everything from satellites to military data. At the same time, local and international political and strategic environment will also be discussed.

On Tuesday, the two leaders will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After which a statement from India and the US will be issued. It is noteworthy that amid the ongoing tensions with China, the US has repeatedly sided with India and accused China of spoiling the atmosphere.
