Controversy has once again erupted over media reports that Brigadier Ejaz Shah Singh, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan's confidante, has abducted the Inspector General of Police.

Nawaz's daughter Maryam fished on Imran Khan at a rally of opposition parties organized against Imran Khan in Singh last Sunday. In response, Singh police on Monday morning arrested Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Captain Safdar Awan from a hotel in Karachi. Reports then surfaced that the Inspector General of Sindh had been abducted and forced to sign an arrest warrant for Captain Safdar.

The issue was a bone of contention between the Singh police and the Pakistani army. Now there are reports that Safdar was abducted by Brigadier Ejaz Khan, Imran Khan's confidante, to force the IG to sign an arrest warrant. Once again, the conflict between the Pakistan Army and the Sidhni police had soured the atmosphere. In fact, the controversy was so heated that General Bajwa, the head of the Pakistan Army, had ordered an inquiry into the abduction of the Sindh police IG.
