Corona virus reaches community transmission level in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

Calcutta, Ta. 04 October 2020 Sunday

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has admitted that the transmission of corona virus in the state has reached the level of community transmission. The festival of Durga Puja is set to begin in a few days in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee's confession is important before this.

"We are in the midst of the Corona epidemic, three of our MLAs have already died," said CM Mamata Banerjee. We do not have information on how many people have died across the country. Now the community transmission is happening.

Mamata's statement came as she was staging a protest march in Calcutta against the Hathras incident. Hundreds of TMC activists joined the march, many without masks.

Before Durga Puja, Mamata Banerjee expressed concern that this could not be stopped even after so much caution and security.

Attacking the BJP, Mamata Banerjee said, "We have not held any rallies in the last few months because of Corona." Only the BJP is rallying and spreading hatred as well as corona.

So far, 2.66 lakh cases of corona have been reported in Bengal. On Saturday alone, 3340 people were hit by the corona. This is the highest figure in the last few weeks. The death toll from corona in the state has crossed 5,000. As many as 5,132 people have died in the state as of October 3, according to the health department.

62 people have died in the last 24 hours in the state. 13 of which are in Calcutta. There are currently 5,590 active corona patients in Calcutta while 1,750 people have died here.
