- The opinion that the court did not consider the evidence

We do not accept the verdict given by the CBI's special court on Wednesday acquitting 32 so-called accused in the Babri scandal. "We will challenge the verdict in the high court," Zafaryab Jilani, a member of the Babri Masjid Action Committee and All India Muslim Personal Law Board, told media. He said the court did not take sufficient note of the evidence.

The case, which lasted for 28 years, had the eye of the country and the world. The court gave a 2300 page verdict against the 2500 page chargesheet. Leading BJP celebrities like Lal Krishna Advani, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, Mahant Nritya Gopaldas, Sadhu Dharmadas, Vinay Katiyar, Ashok Singhal and others were implicated in the case.

The court held that the incident did not follow a pre-arranged plan. Crowds of millions suddenly tore down this controversial building. No leader provoked the mob. In fact the leaders made attempts to repel the people who were demolishing the construction. The CBI termed the incident as a conspiracy, citing media reports and photos and videos. The court said the conspiracy could not be proved on the basis of photographs and video. The CBI had claimed that the decision was taken to demolish the building at Vinay Katiyar's house on December 5. But the CBI's claim was also based on media reports which were not accepted by the court.

Jilani said the court did not take proper note of all the evidence. We are going to challenge this judgment in the High Court. We are sure that the High Court will consider our observations.
