Vodafone and Idea re-branded: Vi new identity

Telecom giants Vodafone and Idea today adopted a new identity VI, two years after their merger. "In less than two years, the company has achieved the milestone of the world's largest integration," said Ravinder Thackeray, Managing Director and CEO, Vodafone Idea.

Ravinder Thackeray announced in a live webcast today that this new beginning has been made after the integration of the two brands has been completed. Vodafone Idea came along two years ago. Both companies have since focused on the integration of two major networks, people and processes. The company has now introduced the brand VI with the identity of both.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Idea, said at the launch of the new brand that India is the second largest telecom market in the world and the largest data consumer. 1.2 billion Indians receive voice and data services in five lakh villages at the lowest tariff in the world. With the new VI brand, the company is committed to partnering with the Government's mission to develop India's digital economy.

Vodafone Idea had last Friday approved a Rs 25,000 crore capitalization plan through a combination of equity and debt instruments. The decision comes after the Supreme Court ordered telecom operators to pay 10 per cent of the total adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in the current year and the balance in 10 installments from the next financial year.
