In addition to being China's defense minister, Wei Feng is one of the four main members of China's Central Military Commission. His position is important in matters relating to China's defense. The commission is chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping himself. Other members include Shu Qiliang and Zhang Yuxia.

A meeting was held between Rajnath Singh and Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu on Thursday. Currently, the Chinese Defense Minister is also in Moscow to attend the SCO meeting. At a time when the Ladakh border is in a state of conflict between the Chinese army and the Indian army, there are many implications for the Chinese defense minister to express his desire to meet the Indian defense minister. Earlier talks between government spokespersons and military commanders of the two countries had failed.
