Report Sushant case in moderation, Mumbai High Court instructs media

- The ongoing investigation should not be affected

Mumbai Dt. 4 September 2020 Friday

The Mumbai High Court had instructed the media to refrain from reporting in any way that could affect the ongoing CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's case. Exercise restraint.

Eight former Maharashtra police officials had filed a petition in the Mumbai High Court alleging that while the CBI was investigating Sushant's untimely death, the media was conducting its own trial and trying to influence the investigation. The High Court should issue an anti-media order as biased reporting could have a serious impact on the CBI's investigation.

In this regard, the High Court advised the media to exercise restraint and vigilance to ensure that the ongoing investigation does not have any direct or indirect impact. A division bench comprising Justice A A Syed and Justice SP Tawden heard two petitions of public interest.

In fact, the Sushant Singh Rajput case gave the false impression that the Mumbai Police was not conducting a neutral investigation under political pressure. It was under such allegations that the CBI probe was demanded. Eight former police officers had filed a public interest litigation in the Mumbai High Court seeking not to tarnish the image of the Mumbai police.

The eight officers included former Mumbai Police Director General PS Pasaricha, K Subramaniam, D Shivanandan, Sanjeev Dayal, Satish Chandra Mathur, former police commissioners Mahesh N Singh, Dhananjay N Jadhav and former anti-terrorism chief K P Ragh.

These people alleged that a certain TV channel was reporting in a way that could influence the CBI investigation.
