Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, while attacking the Modi government at the beginning of the monsoon session of the Lok Sabha, said that the Modi government was strangling democracy by canceling Question Hour in the Parliament session.

In view of the Corona period, the government announced earlier this month that this monsoon session would not be a question period. Changes were also announced during the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sittings. When the announcement was made, Congress' Shashi Tharoor also criticized the government's move to cancel Question Hour. Chaudhary also slammed the government on the issue. This was probably the first time since independence that there was no question period in the session of Parliament. The government gave the reason for the spread of Corona. It was also announced which MPs were to attend the monsoon session. The monsoon season, which started today, was to last till October 1. The government is trying to get some proposals passed on its own.

Election of Deputy Speaker was also to be held in Rajya Sabha today. Among the two contestants, Manoj Jha from the Opposition and Harivansh from the ruling party were in the fray.
