JEE-Main exams across the country begin today amid opposition protests

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has completed all the preparations for the Engineering Entrance Exam JEE-Main scheduled for tomorrow. Special care has been taken to maintain social distance in view of the Corona epidemic. The exam will be held tomorrow amid opposition and protests from some students.

The governments of Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have assured the students that they will provide free transport facility to take the students to the examination center. IIT Alumni students have also launched a portal to provide transport facility to the examinees.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhiyal Nishank has appealed to all state chief ministers to help the students sitting for the exams as much as possible.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to engineering courses at IITs, NITs and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) will be held from September 1 to 6. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission in medical colleges will be held on September 15.

It may be mentioned that 4.5 lakh students have registered for JEE-Main while 12.5 lakh students have registered for NEET. "I appeal to the chief ministers of all the states to help the students in these difficult times," the Union education minister said in a statement. All the state governments should make arrangements so that the examinees do not face any problem. I also appeal to students to trust the agencies that conduct the exams.

According to an official, a sanitizer has been arranged at the entrance of the examination center and examination room. Students' admit cards will be verified by a barcode reader. Students will be given a mask by the Examination Authority as soon as they enter the examination center.
