Jaishankar and Wang Yi likely to meet next week, India eyeing China's next move

New Delhi, 6 September 2020, Sunday

There is a constant dispute between India and China in East Ladakh. Meanwhile, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a high-level meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wei Fenghi in Moscow.

This is the first meeting between the two ministers since the setbacks began in early May, when External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar will be in Moscow. It is believed that Moscow's Chinese counterparts Wang Yi and S. Conversations can take place with Jaishankar.

Officials in New Delhi, on the other hand, say they want to see if they can persuade top Beijing officials to withdraw troops completely on the Line of Actual Control, where both sides are at a standstill and have made an official statement after the meeting. In this, India will keep an eye on the next step of Chinese troops.

South Blake believes that this time, China's commitment and sincerity in resolving the crisis will be tested. In particular, they have now captured the strategic heights of the LAC in the Chushul sector by Indian troops. Personal talks between army commanders and diplomats continued until Friday.

Talks at the level of Foreign Minister and National Security Adviser took place through video conferencing. However no special decision was reached on this conversation. On July 5, NSA Ajit Doval and Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a video conference. It was agreed to reduce the barrier between the troops at the initial stage.
