India's first female cardiologist Padmavati dies from corona

Well-known cardiologist Dr Padmavati was also killed in the Kovid-19 epidemic on Sunday. He was 103 years old. She has been receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute for the last 11 days.

Dr. Padmavati, the founder of the NHI, was born in Burma (present-day Myanmar) in 1917, a year before the Spanish bird flu epidemic broke out. He was having trouble breathing.

Both of his lungs became infected which caused him to be kept on a ventilator. However, he could not survive, the NHI said.

He came to India in 1942 during World War II. He graduated from Rangoon Medical College and did higher studies abroad. After returning to India, he joined Lady Hardinge Medical College. He founded the All India Heart Foundation in 1962 and then the National Heart Institute in 1981.
