Former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh dies at 74 in Delhi

Former Union Minister and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, under whose leadership the ambitious MNREGA scheme was launched in Manmohan Singh's government, died today during treatment after the Kovid-19 epidemic.

He was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi after recovering from Corona's epidemic. The 74-year-old Singh was an ardent socialist leader, leaving behind a wife, two sons and a daughter. He was kept on a ventilator in the ICU on Friday night due to ill health. He also had other complications after he had difficulty breathing at 11 p.m.

His representative in Vaishali, Awadhesh Kumar Singh, said his body would be brought here from Delhi. His last rites would be performed with full political honors at Hasanpur Ghat on the banks of the Ganges in his village Shahpur in Vaishali district.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, a close ally of RJD chief Lalu Prasad and co-founder of the party, resigned from the RJD on Thursday and it was speculated that he would join Nitish Kumar's JD (U) before the October-November assembly elections.

In a letter to Lalu Prasad Yadav, he said, "I have been standing by your side for the last 32 years since the death of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur. But not now." The letter you wrote went viral on social media. .

Lalu Prasad further wrote that for four decades we have been discussing politics together. You are not going anywhere, I understand, ”he said in a handwritten letter. Many leaders, including the President, Vice President and Prime Minister Modi, paid tributes to Raghuvansh Prasad Singh. Singh was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vaishali constituency five times.
