Consider giving corona vaccine to critically ill patients in case of emergency in the country

The number of corona infected patients in India is increasing rapidly. The government may consider giving the Covid-19 vaccine to the elderly and those working in high-risk workplaces in an emergency. Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan mentioned this in a social media interaction called Sunday Dialogue on Sunday.

Officials say the final phase of the vaccine trial could still take six to nine months to complete. Once the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine is ensured, the work of giving the fast track vaccine to the critically ill patients in case of emergency can be started.

The Union Health Minister's statement comes at a time when India is second only to the United States in the number of infected people with 4.8 million. However, since mid-August, more cases have been reported in India than in the US. More than 1,000 deaths from corona are being reported every day in the country this month.

Harshvardhan said the time required for the third phase of the trial could be reduced with the help of fast track vaccine. However no part of the clinical trial can be left unfinished. Vaccines will still be available once the government ensures their safety and effectiveness.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan said he was ready to take the first dose of the corona virus vaccine if there was any distrust. He also asked how long the vaccine could be ready in India. Harshvardhan said that work on vaccine is being done in some countries of the world including India. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

He also said that no date has been fixed for the issuance of corona vaccine in the country. Harshvardhan said that after the arrival of the vaccine, the people in the country who need the vaccine first. Health care workers, the elderly, people with low immunity or people with other serious illnesses should be vaccinated first and I understand that I do not fall into that category.

Dr. "Trials are still going on in the country and around the world and we can't say which vaccine will be the most effective and safe but we are likely to get the results of different vaccine trials by the first quarter of 2021," Harshvardhan said.
