New delhi date. Sunday 20 September 2020

Amid opposition, the Center may try to pass a bill on farmers and agriculture in the Rajya Sabha today. Meanwhile, the Congress and the BJP have asked all their Rajya Sabha MPs to be present in the House.

The NDA does not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha. The Shiromani Akali Dal, part of the NDA, is also against the bill. Congress is liaising with another non-NDA party. The party will demand that the bill be sent to the select committee during the debate.

Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the Congress party opposes the bill. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana believe the bill is an attack on their souls. Consent to this bill is like signing a death warrant for farmers. The farmer is against the change in APMC and MSP.
