After the Akali Dal, now the JD (U) has raised its voice, the government should listen to the farmers

- Bihar Assembly elections are on the head

New delhi date. Thursday 24 September 2020

With the Bihar Assembly elections looming, the JD (U) has now voiced opposition to the agriculture bill. JD (U) spokesperson Casey Tyagi said the central government should listen to the farmers. Such a sensitive issue should not be decided unilaterally.

Earlier, Harsimrat Kaur of the Shiromani Akali Dal, a declining party of the NDA, had resigned from the Union Cabinet in protest. Now with the Bihar Assembly elections in mind, the JD (U) has expressed such an opinion. Expressing happiness over the passage of the agriculture bill in the Rajya Sabha, Tyagi said it should be considered a crime to trade at a price lower than the minimum support price. A law should be enacted so that no one can buy agricultural produce below the minimum support price. This should be made a punishable offense.

Rajya Sabha MP and JD (U) president Casey Tyagi further urged the Center to listen to the farmers as well. The move, which has just passed the agriculture bill, was unilateral. The government should have taken this step after discussing with the farmers. You have spoken to Nitish Kumar on the issue and conveyed your views to the Prime Minister. In response to such a question, Tyagi said that the Prime Minister has assured that the minimum support price will continue in the future.

Asked why the new law does not mention the minimum support price, Tyagi said the prime minister had assured parliament that anyone who ignored the issue would be considered a violator.
