5.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Manipur

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake shook Manipur in the northeastern part of the country on Monday night, forcing people to flee their homes. This was the second earthquake in Manipur in a month.

Earlier, on August 11, an earthquake shook the region. The epicenter was reported at 39 minutes after midnight on Monday, according to the National Center for Seismology. The epicenter was reported at Ukhrul, 55 km east of Manipur. However, no casualties or property damage were reported.

There were no reports of injuries or severe damage when the quake struck at 7.30 pm on August 11. On the one hand, the heavy rains and the tremors between the rising rivers spread panic among the people.
