Will Manmohan Singh become interim Congress president? Today's Congress executive meeting is important

- Efforts to persuade Rahul Gandhi continue

New Delhi Dated 24th August 2020 Monday

Political observers believed that today's meeting of the Congress executive would be very important for the future of the Congress. This is because of the issue of choosing the party president.

Sonia Gandhi will step down as the party's interim president due to ill health. Meanwhile, the youth lobby of the Congress was making strenuous efforts to persuade Rahul Gandhi. The younger generation wants Rahul Gandhi to accept the responsibility of the party presidency by any means. In fact, there is no leader in the Congress today who has the ability to win parliamentary or assembly elections. The position of the Congress has become like a party dependent on the Gandhi family. After Sonia Gandhi resigns, it is a question of who will be given the reins of the party. Observers believe that if Rahul Gandhi does not believe in any way, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to be made the interim president.

Legislative elections in two states are currently underway. First there will be elections in Bihar and in 2021 there will be elections in West Bengal.

The case of Rajasthan has come to a head. In Madhya Pradesh, Yadavsthali was still running in the party. At such times the party needs a strong and popular leader as president. In view of this, today's meeting of the Congress executive will be very critical.

Some rebel leaders of the party also say that a non-Gandhi leader should take over the reins of the party. The senior leaders of the party believe that there is no future for the party without the Gandhi family. Those people are not ready to hand over the leadership to the younger generation.

Sonia Gandhi herself seems to be in a quandary. Due to the statements and mistakes made by Rahul Gandhi in the past, Sonia herself is not sure whether to give Rahul the party presidency or not. He is afraid.
