New delhi date. Tuesday 18 August 2020

The Supreme Court has rejected the demand for transfer of PM Care Fund to NDRF. The petitioners are shocked by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court in its judgment said that PM Care Fund is also a charity fund. No amount needs to be transferred. The Supreme Court has made it clear that any person or organization can donate money to the NDRF.

The Supreme Court said the NDRF created in November 2019 is enough to resolve the Corona crisis. No new action plan needs to separate the minimum standards.

The petitioner NGO, Center for Public Interest Litigation claimed that the PM Care Fund was created in violation of a legal order under the DM Act. The petition said that according to the DM Act any donation made by any person or organization for disaster management must be transferred to NDRF.

The central government had rejected this argument in its affidavit filed before the Supreme Court on July 8. The government said the PM Care Fund is a treasury set up for relief work and some such treasures have been created in this way in the past.
