The Congress has been attacking the Centre's Modi government over the hate speech issue on Facebook. After Rahul Gandhi, now Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi has also targeted the BJP. Priyanka Gandhi wrote in a Facebook post on Sunday that BJP leaders were using Facebook to spread misinformation and hatred. According to the Congress leader, the BJP also colluded with Facebook officials to maintain control over social media.

Priyanka Gandhi has shared a report on Facebook that no action has been taken against the BJP leader's provocative post. "After most of India's media channels, now it's social media," Priyanka Gandhi wrote in the post. The Bharatiya Janata Party used all sorts of means to spread hatred and propaganda and is still doing so.

Priyanka Gandhi said, "Facebook, which is a simple medium for expressing the general public, has also been used by BJP leaders and activists to spread misleading information and hatred." Not only that, the BJP also collaborated with Facebook officials so that Facebook could not take any action to maintain control over social media.

Shashi Tharoor also tweeted

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has also tweeted about the whole controversy. Shashi Tharoor, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT, said that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT would definitely like to hear from Facebook about these reports and what it has to say about hate speech in India.

What is the whole case

The controversy began with a report by the Wall Street Journal. The report said that BJP leader T Raja in his Facebook post had said that Rohingya Muslims should be shot dead. Muslims were branded as traitors and even threatened to demolish the mosque. A Facebook employee protested, calling it against the company's rules. However the company took no action on the issue.

Before Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi also targeted the BJP. The former Congress president accused the BJP and the RSS of dominating Facebook and WhatsApp in India. He also claimed that it was used to spread fake news and hatred and was used to influence voters.

Cleaning given by Facebook

Facebook clarified after the allegations against it. "We ban hate speech and content that incites violence," Facebook said. We apply this policy globally. We don't see anyone's political status or which party the leader belongs to.
