The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Indian Army was now moving from drone swarms to robotics, lasers, artificial intelligence and algorithmic warfare. The Army had undertaken the study of these technical branches. In addition to enhancing conventional combat capability, preparations for non-kinetic and non-combat warfare were also considered. China was developing new techniques with a view to the future. With that in mind, the Indian Army was also updating itself. China has previously developed artificial intelligence used lethal autonomous weapons.

In view of this policy of the neighbor, the Indian Army was also now preparing for cyber warfare. The launch-on-demand micro-satellites, lasers, artificial intelligence, robotics, etc. were moving towards acquiring directed-energy weapons. The Indian Army is also trying out schemes like Integrated Battle Groups. Each integrated battle group will have five thousand soldiers. It will include infantry, tanks, artillery, air defense, signals and engineers. Integrated battle groups participated in a war games on the Western and Eastern fronts last year.
