NPR and first phase of census postponed due to corona

New delhi date. 30 August 2020, Sunday

Corona has postponed the first phase of the National Population Register (NPR) update and the first phase of the 2021 census this year, which could be delayed by a year.

No final decision has been made on the first phase of the 2021 census and updating the NPR, but it is almost certain that 2020 will not lead to an increase in corona cases, the official said.

The house listing phase of the census and the process of updating the NPR was supposed to be implemented across the country from April 1 to September 30, 2020 but was postponed due to Corona's growing fury.

The Indian census is one of the largest administrative and statistical studies in the world. In this census, more than 3 million officials visit every household in different villages of each country. Another senior official said the census did not need to be conducted at this time. Even if it is delayed by one year, it will not cause any harm.
