No Chinese retreat in Pangong Tso and Depsang, fifth phase of military story avoided

New delhi date. Sunday, August 2, 2020

In eastern Ladakh, China is not taking any steps to reduce tensions with India. On the one hand, there are no signs of a retreat of Chinese troops in Pangong Tso and Depsang, on the other hand, China is steadily increasing its troop numbers along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to Arunachal Pradesh. In these circumstances, the military commander level talks between the two countries have been postponed till next week.

In view of China's activities, India did not push for a fifth round of talks between 14 Corps Commander Lieutenant General Harinder Singh and Chinese Major General Louis Lin. The fifth round of talks between the two countries was proposed for July 30, but has been postponed due to China's intentions.

'Two reasons for China's retreat'

Officials say there could be two reasons why Chinese troops are not returning to Pangong Tso and Depsang. First, China is still in a dilemma as to whether to implement the disengagement proposal agreed upon in the fourth round of military commander-level talks between the two countries on July 14. Second, China wants to drag the dispute into the winter.

Air Force and Navy Alert

It is learned that the Indian Air Force will remain alert in the areas adjoining the Line of Control even during the winter season. In this direction, the Indian Navy will continue its aggressive patrolling in the Indian Ocean. According to a report, the Indian Army is making extensive preparations for the long-running standoff in eastern Ladakh.

4 times military level story with China

A four-stage dialogue has so far taken place between the top military commanders of the two countries' armies to withdraw troops from the conflict zone in eastern Ladakh with the aim of maintaining peace and stability in the region. On July 5, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a telephone conversation for about two hours to discuss easing tensions between the two countries in eastern Ladakh. Both sides began the retreat process after July 6 following the story.
