Lalu Yadav's Vevai Chandrika Rai split with RJD and joined JDU

Patna, Ta. 20 August 2020, Thursday

Chandrika Rai, son of Lalu Yadav's Vevai and former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai, has joined the JDU. At the same time, Jayawardene Yadav, grandson of former Union Minister Ramlakhan Singh Yadav and Faraz Fatmi, son of former Union Minister MF Fatmi also joined the JDU. Ahead of the Assembly elections, Nitish Kumar has made a dent in the RJD's Muslim-Yadav equation.

Chandrika Rai has been an RJD MLA from Parsa assembly seat in Saran district six times. Due to an old friendship, Lalu Yadav married his son Tejpratap to Chandrika Rai's daughter Aishwarya. The matter has gone to court due to a dispute a few months after the marriage.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, Chandrika Rai was the RJD candidate from Saran seat. But in this seat, Lalu's son Tejpratap Yadav had fielded a candidate against him under Lalu-Rabdi Mercha and Tejpratap appealed to the people not to vote for Chandrika Rai. No action was taken against Tejpratap's move and Chandrika Rai has been annoyed ever since.

Chandrika Rai has also claimed that Nitish Kumar's government will be formed in Bihar. He has often praised Nitish Kumar's work. According to him, Bihar has moved forward because of the work of CM Nitish Kumar.
