Kabir Math official shot dead in Lucknow, attempts to kill Dhirendra Das in broad daylight

- Earlier in 2015, there was also a fatal attack

Attempts were made to kill Dhirendra Das, an administrative officer of Kabir Math in Daliganj, within the limits of Hassanganj police station in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, in broad daylight. Senior police officials, including DCP (North) Rajesh Srivastava and Lucknow Metropolitan Assistant Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar, rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the shooting.

The injured Dhirendra Das was admitted to the Trauma Center where his condition is said to be critical. According to police, the attackers came under the pretext of booking a barat house (a place rented for a wedding). Interestingly, Dhirendra Das was also attacked in 2015. Even at that time, the attackers came under the pretext of booking Barat's house.

According to ACP Rajesh Srivastava, there was a long-running dispute over the Kabir Math property. CCTV has been installed around the monastery. With the help of this, the police hoped to catch the attackers. The assailants fled immediately after firing on Dhirendra. The police investigation was ongoing. The incident caused a stir in the surrounding areas.

The property of Kabir Math in Daliganj is worth crores of rupees at the current market price. Occupying it often leads to friction.

Dhirendra Das has been handling the administration here for the last many years. It is believed to be familiar to the attackers. Police were hoping to get more information after top doctors gave permission to talk to Dhirendra. The belief that Dhirendra did not easily bow down to anyone was prevalent among the people around him.

Dhirendra also survived the 2015 attack. This time the attack will be known to Kevok during treatment.
