"We are holding peaceful talks," said Chief of Defense General Bipin Rawat, referring to the ongoing rift between India and China in Ladakh. We were fully prepared to fight if the negotiations did not succeed. "We have the option of taking military action against China's incursions into some Indian territories," he said.

In an interview to an English newspaper published from Delhi, he said that if the talks failed, military action could be considered. He was aware that we were also preparing in that direction. He said all defense experts, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, wanted the situation in Ladakh to return to normal.

He added that the government wanted to resolve the issue through peaceful means but that did not mean the army was sitting idly by. Our troops were ready in North Ladakh. Encroachments on the Line of Control are viewed from different perspectives. The job of the army is to keep a close watch on the borders and to prevent any kind of infiltration by force. But the government wants to fight if the matter can be worked out through peaceful discussion. The rest of the army has been preparing for many months to deal with any situation.

For the last few days, China has been talking about peace, but on the other hand, it has infiltrated some areas of Ladakh and claimed some Tamuk areas as its own. Defense experts believe that China was manipulating the borders to divert the world's attention from the global scandal over the Koro issue.
