New delhi date. Tuesday 18 August 2020

A high alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh after a Chinese national was arrested in Delhi on charges of spying for the Dalai Lama. Security agencies are on alert. The State CIA ED has directed the SP of the district to remain alert while enhancing the security of the Dalai Lama and his monastery in the region. Any person of non-Indian origin is asked to share information and verify every information at the level of top officials. Himachal police are also reviewing the security of the Dalai Lama. According to sources, security at the Dalai Lama's monastery in McLeodganj is being considered.

There was a lot of commotion in Kangra district on Monday. However, officials from the police, security agencies, the Dalai Lama's office and the headquarters of the exiled Tibetan government declined to comment. According to sources, police and investigating agency officials have spoken to Delhi officials who have disclosed the matter. SP Kangra told Vimukta Ranjan that the security of the Dalai Lama is an adequate result. Secretary of the Dalai Lama's office in McLeodganj told Set that only a Tibetan government official in exile would make a statement. His office will not say anything in this regard.

Yeshi Funchok, deputy speaker of the exiled Tibetan parliament, said it was "very unfortunate" that his cleric, the Dalai Lama, was being spied on by China. However, there is no threat to the Dalai Lama in the Dharamshala. Adequate security has been provided by the police. Yet they need to be more careful in such a situation.

Former CM Shanta expresses concern over Dalai Lama's espionage

Senior leader and former chief minister Shanta Kumar has expressed deep concern over the spying of the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama. He said the suspected Chinese spy had been trading crores of hawala in the country's capital for six years. Not only that, he was also spying on Dharma Guru along with Tibetan lamas in Delhi's Majnu hill. Yet in exile the Tibetan government and our government and private agencies have been in the dark for some time. He urged Chief Minister Jairam Thakur to meet top Indian government officials in Delhi and inquire into the matter soon.
