Chinese company sponsors IPL: Outrage in the country against BCCI

Following the Governing Council's announcement yesterday that the IPL will be held in Dubai from September 19 to November 10 and all its previous sponsors will remain the same, there has been widespread outrage from various quarters as these sponsors include Chinese mobile company Vivo as the main sponsor.

Citizens and trade associations across India were outraged after Chinese troops killed 20 Indian soldiers in a coup near Galwan on the Ladakh border on June 15 and announced a boycott of Chinese goods.

Not only has the implementation started, but the central government has also made a list of imports from China and cut it. Some have also canceled contracts for infrastructure projects.

Despite the crackdown and fury against China, the Indian Cricket Board, under whose auspices the IPL is played, has been heavily criticized for keeping the sponsors of Chinese companies intact, regardless of patriotism or pride or the martyrdom of soldiers.

On social media, fans have lashed out at the Indian Cricket Board, but some leaders, business associations, federations and the Swadeshi Jagran Manch have also criticized the board. And it has written to the Union Ministries to remove Chinese sponsors and, if possible, cancel the IPL.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar demanding cancellation of the tournament. Praveen Khandelwal, general secretary of the organization, wrote that the Indian Cricket Board has jeopardized the safety of citizens and players in the lure of money. And that too by keeping Chinese sponsors together.

He urged both the ministries to take a quick decision and ban the holding of the IPL. Sports planning is banned in India, so the decision to play in another country shows a runaway and greedy instinct which is not a humane approach but a mere lust for earning.

Swadeshi Jagran Manch, a constituent body of the RSS, has appealed to the citizens of the country to boycott the IPL. Swadeshi Jagran Manch has stated that the Indian Cricket Board, which planned the two IPLs with Chinese sponsors, has insulted Indian soldiers and martyrs.

The behavior of the Indian Cricket Board is very divisive and shameful when the citizens of the country boycott Chinese products and protect the country's pride even after suffering heavy economic hardships. The Indian board is sheltering China at a time when the whole world is opposing China. There should be nothing above the country. Such a nationwide tune is being formed.
