Centre's plan to provide relief to the unemployed

It was learned that the Centre's Labor Department had considered implementing a scheme to provide relief to the unemployed. There was a complete lockdown in April following Corona this year. Meanwhile, more than 120 million people lost their jobs. However in late June the situation changed and Navek crore people found their jobs again.

But even then, three and a half crore people were unemployed. The Labor Department plans to give such people an allowance for six months. ESIC plans to give each employee an allowance of fifty per cent of their last salary for six months, while others will get an allowance of twenty-five per cent of their last salary for three months. A spokesperson for the labor department said the idea for the scheme came from the Prime Minister's Office.

The scheme will be similar to but limited in terms of unemployment benefits in countries such as the United States and Canada. The plan prepared by the Labor Department was presented to the Prime Minister last week. It will now be presented at the ESIC meeting. The Labor Department was considering implementing the scheme after getting approval from there.

The government acknowledged the fact that 121 million people had lost their jobs in the wake of the Corona's general lockdown in April, and the labor ministry was told to come up with a concrete plan to relieve the unemployed. In May-June, 90 million of these people were back in business.

But even then, about 30 million people were still unemployed. The idea of ​​helping them came to the Ministry of Labor from the Prime Minister's Office. The plan was formulated accordingly.
