California wildfires wreak havoc on more than 1 million acres

San Francisco, Sunday 23 August 2020

The spread of wildfires in California has taken on a monstrous form. The blaze has so far affected more than one million acres of forest and destroyed more than 700 houses and buildings.

In the midst of all this, on Sunday and Monday the weather department issued a warning that the fire could spread more quickly, putting more pressure on the California Fire Department.

Two major fires in coastal areas of San Francisco have wreaked havoc and are the second and third largest fires of our time.

A big announcement was made on Saturday to contain the fire in California which will now also help the federal government put out the fire.

State Fire Department officials said continuous efforts are underway to contain the blaze in windy, cold and humid weather. But due to the heat, dry weather and lightning during the day, the water is turning again on all efforts.

The US National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning. According to him, the fire could spread faster in the coastal areas. This warning is from Sunday morning until Monday afternoon.

About 1 million acres of forest have been consumed in 585 wildfires in California. This has further eroded about 4046 square kilometers of forest.

The blaze in California has claimed five lives and burned more than 700 homes and other buildings. The fire has left thousands homeless.

13,700 firefighters have been put out. Meanwhile, the National Guard, along with the U.S. military, is sending air support to 10 other states.
