All political parties in Kashmir unite on restoration of Article 370, Chidambaram salutes

New delhi date. Sunday 23 August 2020

The issue of removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir has resurfaced. All the major political parties here have announced to come together for the restoration of Article 370. Political forces in Jammu and Kashmir issued a statement on Saturday.

A joint statement issued by the party called for restoration of Article 370 and the status quo of the state. The party's announcement was made by Congress leader and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has welcomed. He saluted these 6 forces which have rallied against the decision of the Central Government.

Chidambaram wrote in a tweet on Sunday, saluting the unity and spirit of the major parties by rallying for the reinstatement of Article 370. My appeal to them is that they stand firm for their demands. Swayambhu ignores the criticism of nationalists who do not read history but try to write history a second time. There are some examples of special provisions of the states in the constitution of the country. How can a new issue be resolved if the government opposes special provisions.

The declaration made by the forces for the reinstatement of Article 370. They include Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP, G A Mir of the JKPCC, MY Tarigami of the CPI (M), Sajjad Gani Lone of the JKPC and Muzaffar Shah of the JKANC.

The joint statement of the forces said that since the decision of the central government, the political forces have tried to negotiate at the grassroots level with great difficulty. A resolution has been passed in this meeting. The statement said that the incident of August 5, 2019 has completely changed the relationship between the Central Government and Jammu and Kashmir.

"This is a time of testing for the peace-loving people of Jammu and Kashmir," the joint statement said. Uniting to raise their demands, the leaders said that we all reaffirm our commitment to fight collectively to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under the Constitution.
