A boat sank in the sea near Pamban in Rameshwaram after colliding with a rock, after which Indian Coast Guard rescued all the Tamil Nadu fishermen.
M Venkatesh, commander of the Mandapam Coast Guard Center, said the fishermen were trying to cross the Pamban railway bridge in Taruvaikulam in Tuticorin district when their boat lost its way and collided with a rock.
The boat going to Nagapattinam collided with Sheila and was damaged and capsized, causing it to sink. Venkatesh said some fishermen told police that the fishermen were fighting for their lives at sea, after which a team of Coast Guard personnel reached the mandapam and rescued the fishermen with the help of its local police.
