Jaipur / New Delhi Ta. Monday 27 July 2020

Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi had this morning withdrawn his petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Rajasthan High Court's verdict. The final hearing of the petition was to be held in the Supreme Court today. Earlier, the Speaker withdrew the petition.

The Speaker was to take action against Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and his 19 colleagues when they revolted. The pilot applied to the Rajasthan High Court to restrain the speaker from taking action. The speaker argued that the speaker has the right to act against legislators. The court should not bow its head in this. The High Court had rejected the Speaker's plea and the Speaker had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Rajasthan High Court's judgment.

The Supreme Court told the Speaker that MLAs are legally elected so they have the right to express dissatisfaction or revolt. You can't stop them from expressing dissatisfaction. The apex court reserved judgment on the speaker's plea and said the Rajasthan High Court's verdict should come. Then your application should be considered. The Rajasthan High Court ruled in favor of the Sachin Pilot Group. So all eyes were on today's hearing in the Supreme Court. But the Speaker and especially Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot understood what was going to happen in the Supreme Court and instead of being defeated, the Speaker withdrew his application from the Supreme Court before the court could open it.

Meanwhile, riding today, BSP president Mayawati sent a whip to six of her members in the Rajasthan assembly, warning them not to vote for the Congress when Ashok Gehlot takes a vote of confidence. If you vote for the Congress beyond the whip as per the provisions of our party, you will lose the legislature. Thus now it seems that Ashok Gehlot is surrounded on all sides. However he put forward his son Vaibhav Gehlot to show that he wanted to give a chance to the youth leadership. Now let's see what happens to Ashok Gehlot's government in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
