Rajnath arrives in Ladakh amid tensions with China, will review LAC's security situation

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Ladakh today (Friday) for a two-day visit. In the meantime, he will travel to Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane will also accompany him on the visit. He will visit Ladakh today and review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow.

Prior to the visit, Rajnath Singh's statement came in which he said, "I am going to review the situation on the border and hold talks with the armed forces deployed in the area." Rajnath Singh arrived at Lukung Post near Pangong Lake in the morning. After talking to Air Force personnel at Leh Airport, they will leave for Srinagar at 11:30 am.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Leh in early July but his visit was abruptly canceled and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Nimu area of ​​Leh district on July 3. The defense minister is visiting Ladakh for the first time since the May 5 clash between Indian and Chinese forces at the Line of Actual Control.

According to an agreement reached between the two countries' armies, work is currently underway to remove troops from the border. The Chinese army has withdrawn from the Galvan, Pangong areas and has withdrawn its troops about two kilometers away. According to a senior official, the defense minister will address the troops in Ladakh. At the same time, he will visit para troops and see their management ability.
