Koshi flood waters reach railway tracks, dozens of trains diverted in Bihar

Heavy rains inundated several rivers in Bihar and forced the railways to divert the route of some trains this morning as flood waters reached almost the railway track on the Samastipur bridge.

The flood waters of Koshi river reached near Hayaghat railway station. Thus the kingdom of Chomer fear spread. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the Railways had stopped the movement of trains on the Samastipur-Darbhanga railway route. Some trains were also forced to divert their routes. Seeing the rising flood waters between Samastipur and Darbhanga, the railways had to take immediate action. Dozens of trains were stranded and thousands of passengers were stranded. Like Samastipur Darbhanga, trains between Narkatiyaganj and Sugauli were also affected. It was also forced to change the route of trains in that direction.

The destinations of some trains coming from the country's capital New Delhi were also changed. As a result, the number of passengers on the trains increased. In particular, trains coming from Delhi to Bapudham Motihari were running till Betiya. The route of the train from Darbhanga to Ahmedabad has also been changed, Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway Rajesh Kumar told media.

The Amritsar-Jayanagar special train, which started on July 23, was also shortened to Jayanagar and stopped at Samastipur. Places like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, etc. were flooded due to heavy rains which affected 37 lakh people in Assam alone. There were also complaints from people that government relief work could not reach everywhere.
