New delhi date. 26 July 2020, Sunday

India will soon announce a package of financial assistance to ease the pressure on the Maldivian economy amid the Corona epidemic. According to a message from the Indian Embassy in the Maldives, the aid will be delivered on Maldives' Independence Day on July 26.

Indian President Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent greetings to Maldivian President Solih on the occasion of Maldives Independence Day. "India has always been with the Maldives on the basis of friendship," the Indian embassy wrote in its message. This friendship is historic and we will support each other for a better future.

It may be mentioned that under the Modi government's Neighborhood First policy, India has always supported the Maldives in its difficulties. At the same time, efforts are underway to strengthen ties between India and the Maldives. India has already provided 400 400 million to help the Indian Ocean country recover from the currency crisis.

Even during the Corona period, about 6.2 tonnes of essential medicines and 600 tonnes of food items were sent to Maldives from New Delhi under Operation Sanjeev. The Indian Embassy in the Maldives will host a photo exhibition today (Sunday) to mark Maldives' Independence Day.

It is worth mentioning that this event has become more special as India completes 55 years of diplomatic relations with the Maldives and will reflect the ever-strengthening ties between the two neighboring countries.
